Whether you want to have a dress up party for your birthday, Halloween or any other occasion, ensuring you have enough guests is sometimes the trickiest part in organizing the event. At a dress-up party, people attend in historic clothing or dresses inspired by cartoons or novels. Each dress-up party can have a dress code and a theme, which can range from a pirates’ night to a heavenly angel gathering. If you set a theme, your guests will need to follow the dress code to create a uniform look for the party.

Step One

Create a dress code and a theme for your party. Send invitations to your guests well in advance. Tell everyone what the dress code and the theme is. Start planning the party at least four to six weeks in advance. Include RSVP information so you will know how many guests to expect.

Step Two

Plan the decoration for the dress-up party at least two weeks ahead of the party, so even if you forget something you can still go back to the store. Decorate the house with posters, pictures, balloons and special lighting in the theme of the dress-up party.

Step Three

Use cutlery, plates and cups in the same theme as the dress-up party.

Step Four

Play music that relates to the party's theme. So, if the party is an 80s dress-up party, play music from the eighties. If you are organizing a party for small children, play kid-themed music.

Step Five

Organize activities for your guests. Traditional activities include quizzes or karaoke. Guests can answer questions about the theme or sing songs from the era that your party celebrates. Ask your guests ahead of the party what sort of activities they would like to do at the party.
