We could all do with taking a weekend to spruce up our homes. One or two subtle changes can make all the difference. After all, you deserve a comfortable and luxurious space to relax. At the end of a long day at work, a welcoming home will take the edge off. Of course, most of us live busy, hectic lives. Not only that, but we’re on a budget too. We can’t afford the big new upgrades that will transform the home.
Instead, you need one or two quick-wins. Today, we’ll show you a few easy ways to upgrade your home in a weekend. You won’t break the bank (or your back), but you will leave the home feeling in better shape. Let’s dive straight in.
Air conditioning
Can you really stand one more hot, stuffy night? We don’t know about you, but we’d had enough! Air conditioning installation was the first upgrade we made to our home. And, it’s still the best decision we made. It’s quick and relatively cheap. They need a little general upkeep; we have to replace the filters every few months. But, other than that, it keeps the house cool, and creates a much nicer atmosphere in the home.
Kitchen makeover
We know what you’re thinking. You can’t afford to remodel the kitchen. Luckily, that’s not what we’re talking about here. We understand that a full kitchen remodel is expensive. But, there is another option. Instead, just give it a quick makeover. Try painting the cupboards a new shade, and bring them to life. Replace the door knobs and kitchen fixtures. They’re super cheap, and it makes more difference than you think. Finally, replace the taps and sink with a shiny new alternative. It’s a series of small upgrades that make a huge impact.
New lights
Lighting can change the entire feel of your home. It really is that important. We’ve picked up a few interior design tricks over our time, and we know that lighting is crucial. Start by installing dimmer switches for your overhead lights. By doing that, you can create a warmer, subtler glow. No more harsh, bright lights creating shadows everywhere. Secondly, use carefully placed task lights such as lamps and spotlights in strategic places. You can finish it all off with ambient lighting including candles and fairy lights. This technique is called layer lighting, and it works a charm. Why not bring light to the outside of the home with one or two porch lamps as well?
A lick of paint
Sometimes, the simple answers are the best ones. All it takes to upgrade the home is a new coat of paint. Breathe new life into your rooms with a fresh colour on the walls. Try a light, airy colour in the kitchen and bathrooms. For the living room, study and bedrooms, opt for a deep, warm colours to give is a luxury, cosy feel. Why not create a statement wall by using just one bold colour? There are lots of options here to add personality and character to your home.
