Homemade candy is fun to make and delicious to eat. You can experiment with different shapes, different fillings and flavours.
Ingredients:
- 12 tablespoons of icing sugar
- 1 egg white
- Peppermint extract / flavouring
- Green food colouring
- Chocolate
Step One
Shaping the fruit candies - Put the icing sugar, egg white, 4 drops of peppermint flavoring, 12 drops of green food coloring into a bowl and mix well. You may need o add a little more icing sugar.
Step Two
Knead the mixture for a few minutes until it forms a ball.
Step Three
Form the mixture into a sausage shape and slice into disks.
Step Four
Use your hands to fashion into fruit like shapes. For example, apples, pears, bananas and pineapples.
Step Five
Let the candy shapes dry on a board. You can stop here and eat the candies as they are, or add chocolate.
Step Six
Adding chocolate - Melt the chocolate into a small bowl.
Step Seven
Dip the candies into the chocolate until they are halfway covered.
Step Eight
Place the chocolates onto a foil or wax covered trayboard to set.
Step Nine
Finished. The chocolate coated fruit shaped candies are now ready for eating.
