iMac’s that are new include iPhoto, Apple’s photo management software. iPhoto offers a number of features to help you organize, edit and share your images. After you upload your photos, iPhoto organizes them according to your preferences. You can edit images in iPhoto by cropping them, adding effects and more. iPhoto also offers a variety of ways to view your images and share them with others, such as slideshows, online publishing and photo books.


Step One

Go to the “Applications” folder on your iMac and double-click on “iPhoto.”Select the image you want to edit from your library by double-clicking on it. Press the “Edit” icon at the bottom of the window to open the editing options.


Step Two

Click on the “Rotate” tool if you need to change the orientation of the photo.


Step Three

Select the “Crop” tool to bring up the cropping menu. Constrain the image to one of the preset sizes or use the adjustment tabs at the side of the frame to focus on the important part of the image. Press the “Apply” button to remove the excess areas of the photo and return to the editing menu.


Step Four

Click the “Straighten” tool if the image is uneven. Use the slider bar to adjust the image. Press the “X” icon on the left of the slider bar to return to the editing menu.


Step Five

Press the “Enhance” tool to automatically adjust the color, brightness and contrast of the image.


Step Six

Click on the “Red Eye” tool to bring up the red eye adjustment menu. You can press the “Auto” button to automatically remove the red eye in the image, or use the “Size” slider bar to adjust the size of the red eye tool and click on the red eye in the photo to remove it. You may want to zoom in on the image when removing red eye by using the zoom bar in the lower right corner of the window.


Step Seven

Select the “Retouch” tool to bring up the retouch menu. Adjust the size of the tool using the slider bar and click or drag the tool over the areas of the image you want to retouch. Press the “X” icon on the left of the menu to return to the editing menu.


Step Eight

Press the “Effects” tool to call up the effects menu. Try out different effects by clicking on them. Press the “X” icon at the top of the menu to return to the editing menu.


Step Nine

Click on the “Adjust” tool to bring up the adjust menu. Change the settings as desired. Press the “X” icon at the top of the menu to return to the editing menu.


Step Ten

Press the “Done” button in the lower right corner of the window to finish editing and return to the main library window.
