Fixing a hole in your plasterboard wall is a relatively easy job to do. Just about every home will get a hole in the plasterboard from one thing or another. The most common hole in plasterboard is a hole from a door handle. The easiest method to repair a hole 6-inches or smaller would be to use a adhesive mesh and metal drywall patch. Self-adhesive mesh and metal drywall patches are available in 4-inch, 6-inch and 8-inch sizes.
Remove any plasterboard sticking out of the hole. Slide the 4-inch putty knife across the hole to remove any debris around the hole.
Scrape the edges with the putty knife to smooth the edges. Allow to completely dry, then apply a second coast of joint compound.
