Natural fiber rugs are attractive alternatives to synthetic fabrics. When properly maintained, natural fibers can continue to look as good as new for many years. Sisal, sea grasses, bamboo, wool, jute and many other materials are woven into area rugs that can fit any sized room. Most manufacturers will include a care tag that lists specific care instructions for your particular fabric, however there are some universal care tips that will help you to maintain your natural fiber rug.
6 High traffic areas require more frequent cleaning. Vacuum regularly or, for smaller rugs, shake daily to remove dirt and revive the rug's fibers. Refer to any tags for specific care instructions from the manufacturer. Do not steam clean or use wet shampoo processes on your natural fiber rugs as these processes will shrink or stain the natural fibers.
Rotate your natural fiber rug at least twice a year so that heavy traffic does not create wear patterns in your rug.
