How to Spruce up your Property

0

From time to time, you may feel the need to spruce up your property. Perhaps you’re preparing to sell, you’ve just got the keys back from your tenants following a rental period, or you just want to give your home some TLC. Either way, read on for our top tips on sprucing up your property.

Declutter

If you’re living in your property, a declutter is always the first task. Remove anything broken or that you no longer want. Try to part with anything that you have duplicates of. Consider donating any good-quality items to your local charity shop. Go through your clothes and try to part with anything you haven’t worn in the last year. Decluttering your home is a great first step in its much-needed makeover. You’ll notice the difference straight away and it’ll spur you on with the next steps.

Deep clean

Sometimes, a thorough clean can make all the difference to the look and feel of a property. If you enjoy using elbow grease, consider deep cleaning your home. This includes tasks that aren’t done every week, such as emptying and cleaning all the fridge and pulling all the furniture out from against the walls and vacuuming behind and underneath it. If cleaning isn’t your favourite task, consider employing a professional cleaner to come in and help. Hiring end of tenancy cleaners Earls Court based could save you a great deal of time and work and you’ll come back to a spotless property.

Repair and replace

Have a look around your home and carefully check for any damage to the property or furniture, and faulty appliances. Make a list of your findings and then set about doing some DIY and home improvements. Perhaps your house could do with a lick of paint to freshen up the outside of the property or your rooms, or simply to add some colour. Often, it’s the relatively simple changes that can have a huge impact. Again, if you’re not handy with a screwdriver, consider employing a maintenance company or a local handy person to help you.

Houseplants

A little bit of greenery can make a huge difference to your home. Houseplants not only look beautiful and welcoming but also help to purify the air and re-energise the property. As animals do, humans tend to find plants calming. Houseplants are good for the mind as well as the body and will certainly help to spruce up your home quickly and inexpensively.

Additionally, choosing plants can be a lot of fun. There are so many to choose from. Head to your local garden centre and check out the selection. Alternatively, keep an eye on the classified ads – sometimes people need to rehome their plants when they’re moving to a new house or if the plant has outgrown their space.

Add mirrors

Mirrors are well-known for bringing in more natural light to your home and for making spaces seem larger. Place mirrors particularly in small rooms, or those that you want to add energy to. Be careful in the bedroom, though – getting up in the dark to see a dark figure in front of you can be less than relaxing!
