Spilling super glue on the floor isn’t the end of the world. To remove super glue from laminate flooring, follow these simple steps.
Step One
Get some acetone. You can either use nail polish remover, preferably clear and unscented, or buy pure acetone at a hardware store, where it typically comes in a 1-gallon can.
Step Two
Spot-test the acetone in discreet area of the floor. Let it completely dry before evaluating whether or not there is any damage.
Step Three
Place a few drops of acetone on the super glue and let it sit. Be sure to give it enough time to soften the glue.
Step Four
Use a soft, plastic putty knife to scrape away the glue. Alternatively, you can wrap a thick, clean rag around a butter knife and use it to scrape the floor without damaging laminate. Regardless of what tool you use, be very careful not to scrape too hard or you may leave marks.
Step Five
Reapply acetone and re-scrape as necessary.
Step Six
Test by wiping the spot with a paper towel. Since the acetone softened the glue and the scraper smeared it, there might still be glue residue on the floor. If wiping it down with a paper towel leaves particulates stuck to the floor in patches, rub more acetone over the spot with paper towels or a rag.
Step Seven
Once glue-free, dry the area with a paper towel.
