The Danish government faithfully recreated the entire country in the style of building blocks of the immensely popular title. Danish residents are advised to "freely move about in Denmark" and "find your own private area and build or tear down". Worldwide, around 50 million Minecraft copies have been sold. It is also known as a "sandbox" game, the title allows players to exist in a virtual world, using building blocks to create everything from basic structures to entire worlds. Minecraft was created in 2011 by independent Swedish developer Markus "Notch" Persson. According to the Danish government the maps were developed to be utilized as a tool for teaching. It recommends "virtual field trips" into remote areas of the country. Flat roofs There aren't any specific objectives to pursue other than continued survival. Real-world settings are an area of particular interest to many players. An intern who was working for the UK's Ordnance Survey team built geographically accurate landscapes covering 86,000 sq miles (224,000 sq km) of Britain. However the Danish project is more ambitious and features more detailed renderings of towns and buildings. The only difference, as the team behind it said the only difference was that all roofs were flat. It also bans the use of dynamite, one of the most common tools in the game.
