Motor biking can be a thrilling hobby. Riding through dirt and sand hills and splashing through mud may be fun, but the motor bike will get quite dirty in the process. While it is simple to wash a motor bike to remove dirt and mud, cleaning wheel spokes is a bit trickier. Dirt and mud often get caught in the spokes, sometimes so badly that it can interfere with riding. It is necessary to clean motor bike wheel spokes to keep the motor bike looking good and operating properly.
Wet the wheel spokes with water. Fill up a bucket with warm water and add a few squirts of mild dish soap.
Dip an auto-detailing brush into the bucket of soapy water. A baby bottle brush will also work.
Scrub the spokes thoroughly with the brush. Get into all of the corners and crevices where the spokes attach to the rim.
Rinse the soap and dirt residue from the spokes with plain water. Inspect the spokes for any signs of dirt.
Cut an old cloth into 1 inch thick strips if the spokes are still dirty. Dip a strip into the bucket of soapy water.
Place the cloth strip over a spoke and pull back and forth on the cloth. Move the strip up and down to clean the entire spoke. Again, pay attention to the corners and crevices. Switch to a fresh cloth strip as one becomes dirty. Don't forget to do the underside of the spokes as well.
Rinse the spokes with plain water. Dry the spokes with a clean rag.
Use a commercial wheel cleaner for an alternative method for cleaning motor bike wheel spokes. Spray the cleaner onto the spokes and allow it to set for a few minutes. Scrub the spokes with a detailing or baby bottle brush. Rinse the wheel spokes with plain water and dry with a clean rag.
