After spending all of that time searching for the perfect wedding dress and after spending all of that money buying the dress, it seems a shame to allow your beloved wedding gown to sit in the back of your closet for years, never to be worn again. Read on to discover the possibilities that are available to you if you’re considering reusing part of your wedding dress.
Step One
Take your wedding dress to the dry cleaners immediately after the wedding to get it dry cleaned. Get your wedding dress preserved as well to ensure that it doesn't turn yellow over the years so that you can reuse it at any point in the future. Some dry cleaners provide this service.
Step Two
Transform your wedding dress into a christening gown for your daughter, granddaughter, niece or a friend's daughter.
Step Three
Make your wedding gown into a first communion dress for your daughter, granddaughter or any other special young girl in your family.
Step Four
Pass the dress down to your daughter or granddaughter for her wedding day. She may prefer a more modern style, so allow her to use the fabric and lace from your gown to tailor her own wedding dress.
Step Five
Use some of the beautiful fabric from your gown to make a wedding ring pillow, a handkerchief or a garter for your daughter or granddaughter's wedding.
Step Six
Cut the sleeves off of your dress to make it a strapless, summer gown or cut the gown short if it was a slim, simple styled dress. Re-wear it to a fancy dinner, gala or ball if you have the opportunity, or renew your vows down the road so that you have a chance to wear your updated wedding gown.
