Pinterest is a fun, handy and free website that gives you tools to visually discover, bookmark and share images related to your interests. The site is like an online reminders board where you can pin ideas, inspirations, reminders and photos. Use Pinterest to plan an event, track creative ideas, promote your crafts or keep track of your favourite recipes. Its really easy to join and use.
Step One
Sign Up and Sign In - The easiest way to get started on Pinterest is to sign in with your Facebook account. If you prefer not to use Facebook with Pinterest, create a new account with your email address. The first time you sign in, Pinterest guides you to choose interests to follow. After you've chosen a few interests, Pinterest takes you to a customized home page based on your interests.
Step Two
Meet Your Home Page - Your Pinterest home page will be loaded with pictures bookmarked, or "pinned," by others who share your interests. Each bookmark, called a "pin," is accompanied by information, such as where the image was found, the person who shared it, the related board, the title and caption and the number of "Likes" and "Repins." Click on an interesting pin to see a larger image, view comments and find the link to the original.
Step Three
Like and Share Interesting Pins - Hold your cursor over an interesting picture to show the tools you can use for that picture. If you like a picture and want to share your enthusiasm, click the heart-shaped "Like" button. Click the "Send" button to share the image via email, Facebook, Twitter or other social networks.
Step Four
Pin Your Favorites - The real power of Pinterest is in pinning pictures to your own boards. Pinning makes it easy to find pictures later and share them with others. Move your cursor over an interesting pin and click the "Pin it" button. The first time, you will be guided to create a new board and pin the picture to it. Find your boards by clicking your name in the Pinterest navigation bar. Create your own new pins by clicking the plus (+) button.
Step Five
Explore the Tools - Discover more pins by browsing topics and searching for your interests in the Pinterest navigation bar. Following people and boards is a great way to bring more ideas, inspiration and entertainment to your home page. When you see the "Follow" button, click it to subscribe to the board or person shown on the page. Pins by people and boards you follow display on your home page. If you have a mobile phone or tablet, you can take Pinterest with you. Pinterest has apps in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Pinning websites from your browser is easy with Pinterest's "Pin It" button. If you have a blog or website, Pinterest offers Pin It and board-sharing widgets you can add to your website. See the Pinterest "Goodies" page to install these handy tools. There are also a number of third party apps for iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices.
