Be an environmental activist if you care deeply about environmental issues and believe you can help draw attention to your environmental issues or fix environmental problems through politics. Activists must be completely dedicated to their cause and willing to work hard to get their message out, often without any reward other than helping their issue.
Research the leading environmental organizations to learn about environmental issues and get informed about upcoming protests and rallies you can attend. Check out the websites for the Sierra Club, EnviroLink and the League of Conservation Voters. Sign up for these organization's mailing lists so you can stay up-to-date on environmental issues.
Contact your congressional representatives, state legislators, mayor and city council members and urge them support environmental policies you favor. Encourage others to do the same to start a letter writing campaign.
