Once you notice that the water is not draining quickly from your shower, bathtub or bathroom sink; and very often your kitchen sink you need to act straight away. As these problems often get worse on their own and not better. A dishwasher also gets clogged up and you need to follow the manual instructions before you attempt anything yourself.
Do try the plunger first as this is often enough to clear the drain or the pipe leading from the house. The other home remedies you can try are quick, easy and efficient. For the shower you can use a wire coat hanger and straighten it out to make a single hook on one end so that it can hook out any obvious hair or gunk, the use of a drain claw maybe necessary. Remember that the object of this is to remove things out of the drains and not push anything back in. A mixture of baking soda and vinegar is an effective solution to clear any gunk that has settled in your drains. When making this solution be aware that it fizzes up a lot and you need to use a cup, bowl or jug that is larger than the amount of solution you want to use. Pour the solution down the clogged drain straight away whilst it is fizzing, then try and leave it for at least an hour if possible, however leaving it over-night would be better. Then flush with boiling water to loosen all the gunk. An alternative to this is pour the baking soda down the drain then pour the vinegar in after it. You may have to repeat this a number of times and follow it up by pouring boiling water down the drain. It is best to wait as long as you can before pouring the water as this is to flush the gunk and solution away. This can be a slow process but be patient.
