Clothes piled in the basement or wet clothes piled in a corner or left in a gym locker may have the musty smell of mould and mildew. Any clothing, which is in damp, dark and humid areas are likely to have mould. Mold is a fungus that causes mildew, a growth found on shower curtains, rugs, drapes, leather, wool, cotton, linen and silk. You can remove mould and mildew with a few products and help from the sun.

Step One
Bleach to Remove Mold From Clothes: A well known way to remove mold from clothes and fabric is to wash them with bleach. Adding one cup of bleach to the washing machine when you wash a load of clothing should be effective in removing mold from clothes. Check the directions on the bleach to confirm and also check your clothes for do not bleach warnings and perhaps do a spot test for color fastness.

Dry Cleaning to Remove Mold From Clothes: If dry clean only clothes develop mold then you won't be able to wash them with mold killing products. Fortunately dry cleaning clothes can be an effective method for removing mold from any clothing because of the heat used during dry cleaning.
Step Six
Cleaning to Remove Mold From Clothes: You can remove mold from your clothes without having to us any additional products by brushing the mold off and then washing the clothes. Take your clothes outside the house and brush the mold to remove as much loose mold as you can. After this leave them out in the sun. The sunlight can kill the remaining mold on your clothes.
