Wipe the area with a clean damp rag to remove any residue. Repeat this process, if necessary, until all of the marker is gone. It may require several attempts to remove all of the hairspray.
Dip a white rag into the cleaning mixture and wring it out. Blot the solution onto the permanent marker stain.
Combine 1 tbsp. of household ammonia, 2 cups of cool water and 1 tsp. liquid dish soap if the permanent marker stain persists. Dip a clean white rag into the solution and wring it out well. Sponge the mixture onto the stain.
