Applying a glossy or matte sealant to your ceramic tile not only makes your wall or floor look good, it also helps protect your tile and grout from stains. The most common liquids that threaten to stain your ceramic tile are punch, coffee, grape juice and wine. But you also may get stains from pets, grease, oil or mildew. These all can be costly stains when it comes to cleaning and replacing tiles, so finishing your ceramic tile with a sealant can save you money.
Step One
Clean the tile surfaces and grout. Allow the surface to dry for three days before applying a sealant. Any moisture will keep the seal from bonding to the tile.
Step Two
Apply a second thin coat of sealant. Allow the sealant to dry completely before walking on the tile.
