Your children’s toy boxes and cubbies are already overflowing and Christmas has not arrived yet. Your display shelf and storage cubbies are also filled with an array of items received as gifts. You just know that once Christmas is here, there will be more toys and other items to fill these overflowing spaces. So what do you do with all the other gifts received through the years? How do you make room for new things and how do you get your home organized? Here are some ways for you to organize, store and recycle Christmas gifts.
Step Two
Invest In More Storage Baskets, Cubbies And Bins - Look for more storage solutions you can use in your home. Organize them by designating a basket, bin or cubby for each type of item and get everyone in your family to help get everything cleaned up. If you are dealing with items that are larger in size, opt for larger storage solutions.
Step Three
Sell Unwanted Items - Learn to recycle on a large scale, as you can actually profit from it. Remember that things you no longer need, can be useful to others. As mentioned, you can set up a garage sale, or opt to sell them online as well.
Step Four
Give Away To Charity - If you do not want to sell gifts that you either find useless or hardly use, you can donate them to charity shops that sell them to raise funds for their charity. However, you must avoid choosing charity shops that are located near the people who gave you the gifts and come up with a suitable excuse to tell them when they visit.
Step Five
Recycle Gift Packaging - "Waste not, want not" - this is what we have been taught and want our children to grow up by. All the packaging used for Christmas gifts - fabric bags, craft boxes, cosmetic bags, plastic containers and paper gift wraps can be recycled. You can use these old packaging items to wrap new Christmas gifts, thus saving you time and money each year.
Step Six
Look For Other Uses - When you just can not use the gifts for their respective purposes, consider the alternative purposes they may have. Do not be afraid to be creative when you look for different uses for common and unique items.
Step Seven
Put Them In Storage - The piles of unused and unwanted gifts in all shapes and sizes just continue to increase, but you might not want to part with them, lest you might need them in the future. In such a situation, look for other storage solutions you can invest in then. Click here to learn more about the different external storage solutions available to you.
Step Eight
Opt For Hidden Storage Space - You can also move your children's board games and other larger toys into hidden storage spaces to make room for new toys. All you need to do is be creative when selecting potential storage spaces that can hide your children's toys. Consider bookshelves, furniture drawers and entertainment cabinets that can hold books, board games, toy cars, dolls and small toy displays.
