Windshield washer fluid is relatively cheap, but in the current economic climate, a penny saved is a penny earned. You can make windshield washer fluid cheaply in your own home or garage using easy-to-obtain ingredients. In some cases, your homemade windshield washer fluid works even better than the kind you can buy in the store.
Step Two
Add 1 cup of isopropyl alcohol. This is regular rubbing alcohol that you find in the grocery or beauty supply store. The rubbing alcohol will dissolve the tough stuff stuck to your windshield and prevent streaking.
Step Three
Add 1 tbsp. of dish-washing liquid. The dish-washing liquid adds another layer of solvent to the mix.
Step Four
Mix all of the ingredients together. There is no specific format for mixing, though it is easiest to add the dish-washing liquid last as the alcohol helps it to disperse and mix.
Step Five
Pour the fluid into the windshield washer reservoir. This recipe makes approximately 10 cups of solution.
