Does your baby become hysterical every time you dress him? Does she fuss every time Grandma brings over clothing that matches the wall in her room? Maybe your baby is trying to tell you something. She wants to wear clothes that match her personality. To make you and your baby happy, learn a few simple steps to make your own baby clothes.
Step One
Find a pattern. Wal-Mart and Target carry patterns, or shop online at websites such as SewBaby.com. Pattern makers can create something based on your idea, but you need to sketch your design on paper. The sketch does not have to be a work of art, but it will help the pattern maker visualize what you want.
Step Two
Visit a fabric store with a variety.
Step Three
Place the fabric on a flat surface. Take the pattern and secure it to the top of the fabric with pins from your sewing kit. Cut around the pattern’s outline while it is secured to the top of the fabric.
Step Four
Remove the pins. After reading the pattern’s sewing instructions, sew the sections of fabric together.
Step Five
Dress your baby in his new outfit.
