Feed birds with what they love by following this simple guide.
Watching birds can be a relaxing pastime. Attracting and feeding birds is easy and is something that can be done in any outdoor space.
Determine the types of birds in your area, and the types of birds you want to attract.
Purchase appropriate type of feeder. Hummingbirds need feeders that hold a sugar water nectar. If you are wanting to attract finch, you need a tube feeder for thistle seed. Suet cakes are good for woodpeckers. General seed feeders are appropriate for most other types of wild birds.
Place the feeders in areas that are accessible to the birds. Hang from tree branches, from hooks placed along eaves or overhangs, or from Shepherd’s hooks in the yard.
Keep the feeders well-stocked with seed, suet or nectar.
Sit back and enjoy watching the variety of birds that will visit your feeders.
