Pruning a neglected cherry tree to reduce it’s height from 20 feet tall to 10 feet tall can be done using this simple guide. It is a rather severe pruning that was done to make the tree more manageable. With the best cherries growing near the top of the tree we tended to get very few of them even in years with a good crop. The tree is semi-dwarf about twenty five years old and was not pruned for about ten years. That resulted in it growing too tall.
