Warmer weather makes us crave the outdoors, but it’s important to be careful of what’s out there. Even if you lay on the bug spray, mosquitoes or other insects can still find their way to sting your sweet skin. After you remove any stingers and ice the area, chances are you’re going to have to deal with some aftermath. Whether it’s itching or swelling, you’ve got to stay on top of the bite, and here are a few ways to help soothe the affected area.
Step One
Open the kitchen cabinet: Going the au natural route for insect stings may be your pick. If this is the case, applying apple cider vinegar or honey to an insect bite are great ways to get some immediate relief. Some researchers have found that honey even prevents or clears up potential infections.
Step Two
Try out some toiletries: Applying toothpaste, baking soda, and even underarm deodorant to a sting can give your bad bite some easy, comforting relief.
Step Three
Head to the drugstore: If the other remedies aren't your style or aren't providing sufficient relief, antihistamines can be your best friend. A little Benadryl or itch-relief topical ointment can really help you out if you're suffering from a sting or bite that's swelling or hard not to scratch. And just like the old-school chicken pox remedy, reach for some pink calamine lotion if you've got a bite that needs some cooling off.
