The company ‘Corgi Toys’ was founded in 1933 by a German man named Philip Ullmann, in Northampton, England. They manufacture a wide range of die-cast vehicles, usually for the benefit of children or model car collectors.
In 1956 Corgi Toys were introduced to the UK, in the hope that they could challenge the large market dominator ‘Meccano’. After introduction in the UK, Corgi Toys spread worldwide and were sold in particularly large quantities. They had the honour of replicating some of the most famous cars shown in the film industry, examples including the car from the hit children’s film ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ‘ and James Bond’s car from ‘The Goldfinger’.
