We are all looking forward to taking a nice break during the summer, and if you’re planning a mini-holiday with your family or friends, you have a lot of choices in terms of accommodation. But would you rather stay in a hotel or resort if you could have access to your own private home or villa? How about the location? Where would you want to go if you had the chance? The countryside has its attractions, but spending time at the beach may be a great thing as well. If you aren’t sure about which accommodation to choose for your mini-holiday, here are the top questions you should ask yourself so you can make the best decision.
How long will my trip be?
The length of your holiday can help you determine the most suitable accommodation. If you’re staying somewhere for more than a week, for example, an apartment or private home would be a good option. These places will often have fully-equipped kitchens so it gives you a chance to cook your meals. A longer stay may even give you some discounts, so it would be a good idea to look around for flats, villas, or large houses for rent, especially if you’re going with a group of people.
When will I arrive?
The time of your arrival may also make a difference in your choice of accommodation because if you are getting there late, you would want to maximise your stay so it may be better to opt for flexible accommodation. A hotel is open for 24 hours, of course, but if you check in late, then you’ve lost a day’s stay. If you opt for a private home, however, the owners or provider can be more flexible, and this allows you to optimise your stay.
How many individuals will I be going with?
There’s also the question of the number of individuals you are going on holiday with. Large groups are better off staying at private accommodation like the above-mentioned large houses for rent because you can more easily keep track of one another and know where everyone is. If you stay at a hotel, you may have to stay on different floors, and this is not just expensive, but it will also be more difficult to conveniently see each other if you have to take elevators and walk through hotel corridors just to meet up.
Is my trip because of a special occasion?
If you are planning to go on holiday because of a special occasion, such as someone’s birthday, an anniversary, and so on, it may be better if you opt for more luxurious accommodation with various amenities and facilities. Some private homes and estates for rent come with a lot of features, including indoor pools, saunas, and Jacuzzis, and you can have a lot of privacy combined with access to other facilities like games rooms and cinema rooms. If you are travelling with a group and planning to have a little celebration whilst you’re on holiday, a private home is also a much better alternative than a hotel.
Will I be driving?
If you are planning to drive for your mini-holiday, it would also be best to look for accommodation that has on-site parking or at least parking nearby.
