Roof windows add much needed light to a dark hallway or even an attic — particularly if you want to use the attic as a viable space. While indoor lighting is useful, sunlight is brighter and provides warmth to the area. You can install roof windows in any type of house roof with only two days of work if you’re committed — and you’ll enjoy the benefits for a lifetime.
Step One
etermine where the window is to be fitted. Remove the base plate from the window. In the attic, measure the height and width of the base plate with the tape measure. Mark these dimensions on the rafters where the window is to be placed, with the marker. Set up scaffolding outside, to grant safe access to the roof. Remove the roof tiles where the window will be placed, plus an additional two rows of tiles on each side.
