Until recently, the direction in which laminate and hardwood flooring was laid depended upon the method of installation. For example, with the glue-down method, the installer had to start at the wall facing the entrance, and with the nail-down method the flooring planks had to be nailed down parallel to the floor joist. With the newly developed “click-and-fold” method, however, the flooring is not attached to the subfloor, but depends on the weight of the floorboards to hold it in place. Consequently, click-and-fold laminate floors can be laid in any direction.
Step One
Lay laminate click-together flooring running toward the main source of light entering the room. Daylight reflecting off an unbroken expanse of polished wood enhances the beauty of the flooring.
