Protect your hardwood floor from office chair damage that the casters (wheels) can do to the wood over time. When the wheels slide across your floor, they leave tiny scratches behind that may not be immediately visible to you, but if left unattended this could cause very unattractive blemishes to form on your floor. There are a few ways you can protect your hardwood floor from the wheels of an office chair.
Put a commercial-grade area rug down on your floor beneath the office chair. The commercial-grade carpet is thin and tightly looped, making it easier to slide around. Purchase a rug sized at about 3-by-4 feet to allow you room to move around.
Replace your chair's regular nylon wheel casters with hardwood floor casters. These are made with rubber wheels to roll safely across hardwood floors. Simply pull the old caster out from the bottom and insert the new ones.
