Making an ice fishing shelter can be done during the winter out in the open or in the comfort of a warmer environment. These types of shelters can be purchased as a prefabricated structure, or you can save money and build your own ice fishing shelter. In order to complete this project, you will need to determine how big to build the shelter and then obtain the materials needed for construction.
Drill two pilot holes into each corner, where two boards meet, with the power drill. Drive a screw into each hole to secure the boards together. This will be one section of the frame.
Place the remaining 5-foot 2-by-4 boards at the top of the left and right section of frame. Drill two pilot holes at the ends of the boards and into the frame. Secure the boards to the frame with the screws.
Place one of the 5-by-6-foot plastic tarps on the side of the frame and secure it with the staple gun. Repeat this process on the other side of the frame.
