If you need to present photos to a group of people, you may want to do a picture slide show. A slide show can be created on a computer and then shown to your friends and family. A computer based slide show can even have a soundtrack attached to it to give it more of an emotional punch.
Step One
Save the digital pictures to your hard drive in a folder designated for your slide show. Make sure only the pictures you want in your slide show are in this location. If you are working with hard copy pictures, scan them into digital format.
Step Two
Open Windows Movie Maker. This program usually comes with most copies of WIndows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
Step Three
Click on "Import Pictures" on the left-hand side of the screen which opens a browsing window. Select the pictures you want in the slide show (they should be in the folder you created for them) and click "Import." You can select multiple pictures at once by holding down the control key while you use your mouse to click.
Step Four
Click on "Import Audio or Music" on the left-hand side. Browse for the music you want as a background track from the music saved on your PC. Select the song you want and click "Import."
Step Five
Organize your slide show. The center of the screen should be titled "Collections." This is the location where the pictures and music are held. Drag the pictures to the storyboard at the bottom of the screen in the order you wish them to show.
Step Six
Drag the audio clip to the storyboard. The storyboard will change into a "timeline" mode and load the song. In this view you can see where the slides will fall as the song plays.
Step Seven
Click on "View Video Transitions" and "View Video Effects" on the left-hand side to bring up a list of effects and transitions that your slides can do. Drag the desired effect to the picture of your choice (you will drag transitions to the boxes in between pictures in your storyboard).
Step Eight
Click on "File" -> "Save As" to name and save your slide show.
