Security floodlight illuminates the exterior of a home with a brilliant beam of light, providing protection against an intruder sneaking up under the cover of darkness. To install a security floodlight yourself, you’ll need to assemble some common household tools. You can purchase the security light at a home and garden shop or at select hardware stores.
7 You can add an enclosure over the security floodlight to better protect it from the elements.
Place a ladder next to the wall so you can reach an existing light fixture or cover plate on the wall where the electrical junction box is located.
Place the security floodlight on a work surface. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the ends of the three wires attached to the back of the security flood light, using wire strippers. You can ignore this step if the wires are already prestripped.
Place the security floodlight against the wall, over the hole. Screw wood screws through the predrilled holes in each side of the security flood light and into the wall, using the Phillips screwdriver.
