Power Continuity is the term used for any installed power protection system which automatically starts when a power outage occurs, thus providing Power Continuity.
Power Continuity systems should comprise of a fully installed uninterruptible power supply ( sometimes known as a UPS system) and also a fully installed emergency power standby generator. Each of these is connected to an automatic mains transfer panel so that in the event of a sudden power outage the automatic mains transfer panel will seamlessly transfer the load to the Power Continuity system, which run for many hours or days , thus providing Power Continuity.
Power Continuity can also be termed when a single UPS which protects a single piece of critical equipment, which will hold the power for a short time during a power cut and in that way the UPS will provide Power Continuity for a short time, usually minutes.
Can you live with a short break in power without losing all your data when your PC crashes? If the answer is YES then move on to Step 3.......if NO then keep reading. To eliminate any break in power you will require a UPS. A UPS is an uninterruptible power supply. This is a metal box filled with electronics and a visual display , so you know what’s happening. Inside you’ll find lead acid batteries to store some electricity. This in effect replaces the power that you have lost in a power outage with stored power. This happens virtually instantaneously without a break, so providing seamless power continuity. That’s great for a few seconds and maybe even for a few minutes but what it you require hours of power? That depends on what you are power protecting. A home PC and monitor can get by with a 1 kVA UPS (uninterruptible power supply) which you can purchase on line or from a local electronics store. Where as an home office may have many PC and monitors and so need a larger UPS. Larger UPS may need more floor space and a separate cabinet for more and larger batteries. In essence the larger the UPS usually the longer battery back time for seamless power continuity. But only expect minutes. You’ll not be working long on a just a UPS so what else do you need to fix this failure of your electricity provider?
Do you need seamless power continuity without any break , whatsoever? You can fix that too. For seamless power continuity you’ll need 2 items. One UPS One Generator The UPS will provide short term power while your generator is turned on manually or if you’re feeling epic then splash out on an automatic mains transfer panel. Then it all happens automatically..........Nice. Life fixed. Power to the people.
Power continuity fixed. The power is in your hands Lets party !
