The DeWalt jigsaw has joined the ranks of hard-working, dependable tools. They are hardy and do their job effectively. However, there comes a time when it’s necessary to change a DeWalt jigsaw blade. Once you’ve removed the old jigsaw blade, it’s a simple matter to replace it with a new one.
Step One
Remove old DeWalt Jigsaw Blade - Remove the battery from the tool when you change a DeWalt jigsaw blade. This prevents accidentally actuating the "On" switch.
Step Two
Put your finger beneath the lever that releases the blade and lift. The lever is located at the front of the DeWalt jigsaw, inside a large circle studded by four screws.
Step Three
Shake the DeWalt jigsaw gently. The blade should drop out from the machine. If the blade does not drop, lift the lever again (see Step 2) and shake the jigsaw a second time.
Step Four
Change a DeWalt Jigsaw Blade - Make sure you have the proper blade when changing a DeWalt jigsaw blade. The blade should have a "T-shank" configuration.
Step Five
Put your finger beneath the lever that releases the blade and lift up (see Step 2 of Section 1, Remove old DeWalt Jigsaw Blade).
Step Six
Slip the T-shanked blade into the so-called "clamp mechanism" located at the bottom of the DeWalt jigsaw when you change a DeWalt jigsaw blade. As you slip the blade into place, make sure the blade's back goes into the groove for the "guide rollers."
Step Seven
Seat the blade of the DeWalt jigsaw into the clamping mechanism. When it is securely in place, let the blade release lever go.
Step Eight
Replace the battery. Enjoy renewed cutting when you change a DeWalt jigsaw blade.
