If your car exhaust acts up, and you can’t get to a mechanic, you can apply a temporary fix with a tin can. All you need is the can and a few common tools for a temporary repair that should hold until you can get your vehicle to a pro.
Measure the diameter of the exhaust pipe with a tape measure.
Use shears to make a lengthwise cut down the side of the can to form a sleeve. Put the sleeve around the damaged section of pipe. Using 2 automotive clamps that fit the exhaust, clamp both ends of the soda can to the pipe. Use a flat head screwdriver to tighten the clamps and seal the pipe.
