Rebooting a router is as simple as unplugging the power cord but sometimes your computers may be unable to establish a connection to the Internet. The router works in conjunction with the modem and the computers to enable users to access the Internet wirelessly. When one of the three components are rebooted, it can cause the network to work improperly. Due to this, all three components are shut down and restarted in a specific manner to ensure the network works properly after the reboot.
Turn off the Internet modem by pulling the power cord from the back. Like the Linksys router, most Modems do not have a power on/off switch.
