Step One
Make a simple syrup: Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil. Simmer gently until the sugar dissolves. Stir occasionally.
Step Two
Add 1/2 cup of thinly sliced fresh ginger. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Step Three
Pour into a container through sieve.
Step Four
Allow the ginger syrup to cool slightly, then strain in it into a storage container with a lid that closes securely.Refrigerate until ready to use.
