Ramen noodles are one of the most versatile foods in your pantry aswell as being inexpensive yet delicious. Not only are they the main staple of the typical college student’s diet, but they provide the foundation for countless recipes. Add packages of ramen noodles to your regular grocery list each week to keep your budget lean. Most ramen noodle recipes are quick and easy as well as inexpensive to prepare. Because the noodles are loaded with sodium, you won’t even have to add salt.
Step Two
Cheesy Noodles - Cook 1 package ramen noodles according to the manufacturer’s directions. Drain half the liquid, and return the noodles to the pot. Sprinkle 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the noodles. Stir until the cheese is melted. You’ll have enough cheesy noodles for two people.
Step Three
Noodles and Tuna - Prepare 2 packages ramen noodles according to the manufacturer’s directions. Drain a can of tuna, and add the fish to the noodles. Stir well. Add a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup, and stir again. Pour the mixture into a casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray. Sprinkle 1 cup crushed potato chips over the mixture, and bake at 350 degrees F until the potato chips are browned. This casserole serves four people. Add a salad and bread for a complete meal.
Step Four
Beefy Noodles - Brown 1 lb. ground beef. Drain any fat, and add 1/2 cup diced onion to the meat. Continue cooking until the onion is translucent. Add 2 cups water and 2 packages crumbled ramen noodles with beef flavoring packets. Stir, and bring the mixture to a boil. Add 1 cup broccoli, 1 cup diced carrots and 1 cup peas. Cover the pot, and simmer until the noodles are tender. Remove the cover, and continue cooking until the mixture has thickened to taste. Other meats, such as chicken or pork, may be substituted for ground beef. This dish will sufficiently feed four hungry people.
Step Five
Breakfast Noodle Soup - Prepare 1 package ramen noodles according to manufacturer’s directions. Drain half the liquid, and create a well in the center of the noodles. Crack an egg, and pour it into the well. Leave the egg intact for a defined yolk. Cook until the egg is done to taste. This quick and easy recipe serves one person.
