You can see it had cracks around the spokes and the finish was very worn I stripped the boss and rim using MEK (Methyl ethyl ketone) quite nasty stuff need to wear breathing protection and butyl rubber gloves as it disolves other rubber gloves.
I used a metal reinforced aviation grade Epoxy Glue (the grey stuff in the photo) to fill and level where I had ground out the cracks. I then filled any inperfections with a 2 part stopping putty which is a fancy name for a really fine grade of bog.
