Dell was one of the early producers of laptop computers, and as such many of its laptops in use today are outdated and in need of memory upgrades. Adding memory to your Dell laptop will increase speed and computing power.
Purchase a replacement memory board. Dell recommends purchasing memory upgrade kits directly from dell.com, but non-Dell manufactured boards will suffice. There are no hard rules for how much memory to buy, so consider costs and your needs and choose the best fit for your laptop.
Remove the screws on the RAM compartment door and take it off. Most compartment doors are on the underside of the computer, but look to your user manual if you are uncertain about the location.
Reverse steps 3, 2 and 1 to complete the process and power up your computer.
