Heat from electric rollers and curling irons can have a detrimental effect on hair, making it lose moisture and causing split ends. Also, chemical processing used in permanents can dry hair out and create frizzing. Curling hair while it is damp then allowing it to dry imparts natural curls without damaging the hair. And pin curls are the best way to get a head full of super curly hair.
Step One
Wash your hair and towel dry well so that hair is damp, not soaking wet. If the hair is too wet, and your hair is thick, it may take too long to dry.
Step Two
Comb your hair until it is smooth. Use the pointy end of the rat tail comb to create a part in the center or side of your hair, depending on your preference.
Step Three
Make a section of hair one inch by one inch with your rat tail comb. Comb the section to make it smooth.
Step Four
Wind the section of hair around your forefinger with the end on the inside of the curl. Push the curl down your finger against your scalp. Hold the hair against your head and pin the curl to your head with a hair clip.
Step Five
Repeat this process around your entire head. It is best to work from the top down.
